BET HIP HOP AWARDS 2014 BRANDY, QUEEN LATIFAH, T.I., SNOOP DOGG, BRANDY, KEYSHIA COLE, & MORE

There were laughs and tears at the BET Hip-Hop Awards 2014 on Saturday. Hosted by Snoop Dogg, the ninth annual show returned to the Boisfeuillet Jones Atlanta Civic Center in Atlanta to honor the best in hip-hop, with performances from some of the year’s biggest stars.

Uncle Snoop showed off his comedic chops in several skits throughout the evening. He brought his GGN network to life on stage, interviewing French Montana and “Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta” star Mimi Faust.

In honor of the song’s 20-year anniversary, Brandy reunited with Queen Latifah, MC Lyte, and Yo-Yo to perform the hip-hop remix to her debut single “I Wanna Be Down.”

The most powerful moment of the evening came when Common, Jay Electronica, and Vince Staples stood on stage with the parents of Mike Brown. There was a moment of silence and the crowd put their hands in the air in remembrance of the unarmed black teen who was killed by a white police officer in Ferguson.

With tears in his eyes, Doug E. Fresh acknowledged his late mother while accepting the “I Am Hip-Hop Award.”
“I want to thank this woman and hip-hop. If it wasn’t for hip-hop, I don’t know where I would be,” said an emotional Fresh, who also performed “La Di Da Di” with Snoop.
T.I. took the stage with Young Thug for “About the Money,” Rae Sremmurd performed their summer anthem “No Flex Zone,” and Migos knocked it out with “Fight Night.”
A day after being arrested for allegedly assaulting a woman in Birdman’s condo, Keyshia Cole presented Producer of the Year to DJ Mustard. Her rumored boyfriend Birdman was also in the house, performing “Lifestyle” with Rich Homie Quan and Young Thug.

Drake received the most nominations with eight, followed by Jay Z, Pharrell, and Future with six apiece.

The BET Hip-Hop Awards 2014, along with the pre-recorded cyphers, will air October 14 at 8 p.m. EST.

QUEEN LATIFAH TO PLAY BI-SEXUAL BLUES SINGER

So we know this role won't be a stretch...Queen Latifah signs on to play notoriously bi-sexual blues singer Bessie Smith in a new bio-pic…
According to Deadline HBO just green lit a project from Queen Latifah's Flava Unit based on blues icon Bessie Smith.
Speculation over Smith's sexuality was frequent gossip column fodder in the 1920s and 30s.

Legendary blues singer Bessie Smith is buried near Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, on October 4, 1937. Some 7,000 mourners attended her funeral.
Smith had been killed a few days before when the old Packard she was driving hit a parked truck near Coahoma, Mississippi, between Clarksdale and Memphis. There is no record of Smith's exact birth date, but she was about 43 years old.

The untitled film will be written and directed by Dee Rees, the filmmaker behind 2010 indie darling 'Pariah.'

PEOPLE'S CHOICE AWARDS RED CARPET, WHO WORE WHAT AND WHY?

Big winner Bullock, who swooped up honors for her work in Gravity and The Heats and goofed off with Zac.
Were still trying to figure out if we like this fun floral dress and coordinating moss-green pumps too. But we're mostly here for the hair.

The singer's new pixie seems to have given her more confidence than ever – she strikes pose in a body-skimming white KaufmanFranco dress, ankle-strap heels and a pop of pink lipstick.

Jennifer Hudson gets some special support from fiancé David Otunga at Wednesday's show.

Tireless: Jennifer and sister Julia have worked long and hard to make sure their murdered nephew did not die in vain.

Queen Latifah scored the Favourite New Talk Show Host trophy, took a simple sartorial approach to the evening. Her black Angela Dean dropped-waist dress featured a loose silhouette with Grecian-inspired draping. Classic and sophisticated it was; memorable perhaps not.

Wearing a classic tight, white dress actress Jessica Alba pulls of a clean and glamorous look finished off with white heels.
Platinum locks. Super-toned bod from her Vegas show. Flirty and flattering Mikael D dress: 2014 is starting off right, stylewise, accompanied by her new boyfriend Dave Lucado for their first red carpet appearance together.

Quiet backstage: Cheeky Heidi Klum and her good friend LL Cool J pulled a comical pose at the People's Choice Awards.
The TV personality wore a strapless, blue cocktail dress with heels.
WORST :In case her engagement ring wasn't getting her enough attention   ‘Glee’ star Naya Rivera didn’t quite pull off this black, white and nude dress that would have been better suited with an updo or not worn at all Yikes.

Fox is spinning the wheel...Tamera Mowry, singer Tamar Braxton, singer-actress Adrienne Bailon, TV personality Jeannie Mai and comedian Loni Love will host a new syndicated talk show that will go up against ASPiRE's Exhale this summer.
The trial run talker will be hosted on some of the Fox-owned stations as the exact markets and time periods are worked out. A July 8 launch is eyed, but The Real, which is the show's proposed title, is looking to follow in the footsteps of another show, Bethenny.

Fox's new talk show entry is the second program that is being given a try this summer, along with Kris, hosted by Kris Jenner, which premieres July 15.

The daytime talk show slot is already a crowded landscape, as Queen Latifah will also make her return to that arena as well.

In related news, the new television network from Magic Johnson Enterprises ASPiRE is producing their first talk show, Exhale. The all women panel would include Essence Editor-in-Chief Angela Burt-Murray, Actress Malinda Williams, former CBS Anchor Rene Syler, and Actress/writer Issa Rae.

We will keep you all posted as more develops with this project.

QUEEN LATIFAH BOOKS A NEW GIG!!

Homeboy, Queen Latifah will star in the romantic comedy "Just Wright" for Fox Searchlight.

Project had been set up six years ago at Disney but was put into turnaround and picked up by Searchlight.

Dubbed a modern-day Cinderella tale, story centers on a female physical therapist who falls in love with a basketball player (played by Queen Latifah, OK so I threw that part in), while helping him recover from a career-threatening injury.

Searchlight, which recently teamed with Latifah on "The Secret Life of Bees," is eyeing a late May start date.

Latifah and her Flavor Unit partner Shakim Compere are producing alongside Debra Martin Chase.

Film marks the second romantic comedy that Latifah has toplined. Paramount's "Last Holiday" was her previous foray into the genre.

Love Me some Queens...but not necessary Latfah and definitely not in a Romantic Comedy it doesn't work especially since we all know she has a Girlfriend. But whatever ...You Go Boy!!
