OOO LA LA LA...LAURYN HILL EVICTED FOR NOT PAYING RENT!

In our Wyclef voice, someone please dial 911.  Lauryn Hill is reportedly being sued for eviction by her landlord, who claims that the five time Grammy winner stopped making payments to her South Orange mansion last month. TMZ reports that Hill’s landlord has taken the case to court and is demanding that The Fugees co-founder pay her bill or she’ll be booted from property. She has been renting the home since 2009.

The troubled artist is also accused of owing more than $1.6 million to tax authorities. She could face up to three years in prison after she pled guilty for failing to file her tax returns for 2005, 2006 and 2007.

Entertainment Weekly reports that in those three years, the 37-year-old star earned an estimated $1.8 million.

Her legal documents explained that she refused to pay the IRS because she “withdrew from society at large due to what she perceived as manipulation and very real threats to herself and her family.”

A judge will announce her sentence on Monday. According to her documents, Hill is trying to avoid jail time and has asked for probation, as it would make it easier for her to pay back her bill .

Ooh, La, La, La, Lauryn Hill Announces Tour This Winter

The troubled Grammy-winning artist has announced a series of intimate shows.  For my ATLiens the former Fugees frontwoman will perform at Center Stage at 9 p.m. Jan. 14. Tickets, on sale at 10 a.m. Dec. 23, will set you back $76.50 (with Ticketmaster fees).

Hill, who  has spent much of 2010 playing festivals in the U.S. and abroad, will appear with a live band on 17 North American dates. Stops include New York’s Highline and Bowery Ballrooms, Chicago’s House of Blues, and two dates in Canada, wrapping in her home state of New Jersey on February 4. Peep a list of dates below:

Inside Lauryn Hill....Breaks Her Silence

After being absent off the music scene for 8 years with no new music and tons of speculations and rumors about her mental state, Lauryn Hill finally breaks her silence. Hill discuss the state of music, her 5 children and new music.  It doesn't take much for a group of 30-somethings to get nostalgic about L-boogie. Her solo album, The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill, on at a bar, and it takes the crowd right back to college days or high-school summers.  NPR scored a one on one interview with Lauryn Hill and asked some of the questions that all her fans have been wondering:

Why did you stop singing music:

"There were a number of different reasons," she says. "But partly, the support system that I needed was not necessarily in place. There were things about myself, personal-growth things, that I had to go through in order to feel like it was worth it. In fact, as musicians and artists, it's important we have an environment — and I guess when I say environment, I really mean the [music] industry, that really nurtures these gifts. Oftentimes, the machine can overlook the need to take care of the people who produce the sounds that have a lot to do with the health and well-being of society, or at least some aspect of society. And it's important that people be given the time that they need to go through, to grow, so that the consciousness level of the general public is properly affected. Oftentimes, I think people are forced to make decisions prematurely. And then that sound radiates."

About The Music

"I'm trying to open up my range and really sing more," she says. "With The Fugees initially, and even with Miseducation, it was very hip-hop — always a singing over beats. I don't think people have really heard me sing out. So if I do record again, perhaps it will have an expanded context. Where people can hear a bit more."

The editor of this article noted when he left this interview he was overwhelmed A) because he met Lauryn Hill and got the interview.  B) Because now Lauryn Hill is doing fine. 

"I don't know if you know this, but I have five children," she says. "The youngest is 2 now, so she's old enough that I can leave her for a period of time and know she's going to be OK.  I'm starting to get excited again. Believe it or not, I think what people are attracted to about me, if anything, is my passion. People got exposed to my passion through music and song first.

Lauryn Hill made a rare appearance in the last place we’d expect to see her, at Martha Stewart’s signing for her new book, Martha Stewart’s Cooking School: Lessons for the Home Cook. Hill came to meet the Domestic Diva at Williams-Sonoma in New Jersey and brought along her kids, who were snapped wearing Abercrombie & Fitch and eating cookies. LAURYN HILL TRYING TO MAKE A COMEBACK..!!

According to her babies’ daddy, Lauryn Hill is gearing up to make a comeback:

Lauryn Hill is building up material for a major comeback after giving birth to her five kids - she has song ideas and lyrics scribbled all over her bathroom. The reclusive star’s longtime partner Rohan Marley reveals Hill is as prolific as anyone in the music business, and cannot stop writing lyrics and tunes while she’s on hiatus. He says,

“She writes music in the bathroom, on toilet paper, on the wall. She writes it in the mirror if the mirror smokes up. “She writes constantly. This woman does not sleep.”

This sounds more like the behavior of a deeply disturbed individual, rather than a prolific artist. Jumping on stage dressed like an ass-clown from another dimension was sort of a dead give-away. I guess we can all expect to see more of this in the near future. SMH. read more (Click now)
