Official Whitney Houston Documentary Coming Soon

Kevin MacDonald, who won an Oscar for his film One Day in September, is set to direct the theatrical feature documentary about the life of singer Whitney Houston. It is the first such project to be officially authorized by the singer’s estate since her death in 2012.

Whitney Houston is joining the growing ranks of late entertainers to get the documentary treatment, with the British banner behind the acclaimed Oscar-winning Amy set to introduce the film to buyers in Cannes next month.

Sources tell The Hollywood Reporter had long been working on a project centered around the singer known to many simply as "The Voice" — will helm the as-yet-untitled "official" film, which was announced Thursday.

Macdonald won an Oscar in 2000 for One Day in September, directed The Last King of Scotland and underlined his music-doc credentials with 2012's critically acclaimed Marley. He is working on the Houston project with fellow Oscar-winning producer Simon Chinn, behind both Man on Wire and Searching for Sugar Man.

Whitney looked great and Bobby Kirstina has grown up to be a beautiful young lady. I heard the Album and I like it!!

She performed four songs: "Million Dollar Bill" and "I Look to You" from her new album, as well as classics "My Love Is Your Love" and "I'm Every Woman."

*As Whitney would say, "Hell to tha naw!" Apparently that's how she feels about getting back together with ex-husband Bobby Brown, nixing reports earlier in the week that said they were going to do just that.

Friday, Houston has issued a statement denying the rumors of a reunion with Bobby Brown.

Acting on behalf of Houston, the singer's publicist Nancy Seltzer calls speculation that the exes are getting back together "a complete fabrication."

Seltzer pinpoints the rumors to a report in Wednesday's Chicago Sun-Times by columnist Bill Zwecker that said Houston and Brown had been spotted out and about in Georgia looking romantic:

The official word from Camp Houston sticks to the old line about the divorced couple remaining separate, 'but good friends whose primary interest is the well-being of their daughter.' Yet, several Georgia sightings of Houston and Brown in recent days -- clearly looking very romantic while dining together -- seem to boost the reliability of what I'm hearing. Whitney can't catch a break, Bobby Brown has come out with a tell-all autobiography, "Being Bobby Brown: The Whole Truth and Nothin' But," in which he details his and Houston's drug use and addresses the rumors of her bi-sexuality. And now her much younger lover, Ray J, 27, has written a song dissing Brown and detailing his sex life with Houston.

In Ray J's "Boyfriend," off his just-released album, "All I Feel," which debuts this week, Ray J croons, "Is that your wife, is that your shorty, well I'm her boyfriend . . . I think the problem is you don't beat it right . . . Making love is cool, just pull her hair sometimes."

The feeling between Brown and Ray J seems to be mutual. While Ray J is more blatant in his diss, Brown tries to be subtler. In his upcoming autobiography, Brown blows the lid on his wildly dysfunctional marriage to the troubled, Grammy-winning diva, suggesting that she drove him into a nightmare of drug addiction here are some excerts from the book On Drugs :

“I never used cocaine until after I met Whitney. Before then, I had experimented with other drugs, but marijuana was my drug of choice,” Brown writes in “Bobby Brown: The Truth, the Whole Truth and Nothing But,” out next month. “At one point in my life, I used drugs uncontrollably. I was using everything I could get my hands on, from cocaine to heroin, weed and cooked cocaine.”

Bobby speaks about there marriage:

it “was doomed from the very beginning. Within the first year we separated, with several more to follow,” Brown writes. “I think we got married for all the wrong reasons. Now, I realize Whitney had a different agenda than I did when we got married . . . I believe her agenda was to clean up her image, while mine was to be loved and have children.”

About his infidelity & Affair with superhead:

“I am guilty of sleeping with other women . . . Women are always throwing themselves at you. I’m only human, so I would make the mistake and bite the hook sometimes . . . I let the testosterone take over.” One of his most public indiscretions was an affair with former exotic dancer Karrine “Superhead” Steffans. “Yes, I’ve slept with her,” he confesses. “Yes, I’ve spent several nights at her house. But she was only good for what her nickname stood for.”
