“We’d just like to thank all of our fans and anybody who’s had a hand in our career,” said T-Boz. “We’ve had 20 years and we’re still going and we’re so blessed to be here and get this award.”She also thanked her daughter Chase, Chilli’s son Tron, and the late Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes. “Three girls, three dreams, and we did it,” she said.
Left Eye’s mother and sister were in attendance. “Lisa ‘Left Eye’ Lopes is our sister. She lives on forever in this group, TLC,” said Chilli. “I want to give a shout-out to her family that came here to support us. I know she’s smiling right now. I know she has a hand in us continuing on and she’s missed, but she’s never forgotten.”The duo performed an energetic dance medley of their greatest hits including “Silly Ho,” “Ain’t 2 Proud 2 Beg,” “What About Your Friends,” “Baby-Baby-Baby,” “Diggin’ on You,” “Unpretty,” “No Scrubs,” and “Waterfalls.”
MTV celebrated the legacy of TLC at their international Video Music Awards in Japan over the weekend. Tionne “T-Boz” Watkins and Rozonda “Chilli” Thomas were on hand to accept the “Legend Award,” which has only been given to Michael Jackson in the past.
TLC will make its U.S. return at the Mixtape Festival on July 27 in Hershey, PA. They are also working on a new album and the made-for-TV movie “CrazySexyCool: The TLC Story,” set to air on VH1 in November.
