That's right, the music of rapper/urban legend Tupac Shakur will hopefully be put to stage soon, as a workshop of the new musical Holler If Ya Hear Me is currently ongoing.
A new musical inspired by Tupac Shakur is currently being developed by Atlanta’s own Kenny Leon (director of “Rasin in the Sun” and “Fences”). ”Holler if Ya Hear Me” is being workshopped in New York and could debut during Broadway’s 2013-14 season. The show will be fueled by Tupac’s greatest hits and poetry but the production will not be a biographical sketch of his life.
“Holler if Ya Hear Me” is a fictional account of two childhood friends and their families facing challenges in a Midwestern industrial city during the present day. The creative team includes Tony-winning choreographer Wayne Cilento (“Wicked”) and Todd Kreidler (“Radio Golf,” “Gem of the Ocean”), who wrote the book. Tupac’s mother Afeni Shakur, is slated to be a producer for the project.
Were kinda feeling this, so in the spirit of Tupac we will take you back to last year coachella when his hologram was used to perform with snoop dog and Dre Dre. Peep Video Below:
