MICHAEL STAHAN AND NICOLE MURPHY CALL OFF 5 YEAR ENGAGEMENT

What the streets have been saying all along these two will never marry.  In his successful American football career, he was one of the best defensive ends at attacking a quarterback's blind side.
But on one of the most special weekends of his life, Michael Strahan seems to be the one who was left blindsided.

According to a Sunday report by TMZ, the 42-year-old morning talk show host had no idea that his fiancée Nicole Murphy would announce their breakup as he was about to be inducted into the NFL Hall Of Fame.

Snitches are saying that friends of Michael believe that either his ex or someone close to her was trying to sabotage one of the biggest milestones in his life.

Their insiders close to the now former couple said that the split allegedly had been in the works for a while as the two broke their engagement several weeks prior. However, there was no plan on the Live! With Kelly And Michael host's side to announce the break-up before the prestigious ceremony.

Strahan's rep says it's all about 2,475 air miles -- he lives in NYC and she's in L.A. and it's just too difficult.  It's especially hard because they're both real busy. 

Michael received his gold jacket during the Pro Football Hall of Fame Enshrinees' Dinner in Canton, Ohio on Saturday,.

He and Nicole - who was previously married to Eddie Murphy - started dating in 2007 and the former New York Giants proposed two years later. 

'They love each other very much, but with the distance and work schedule it has been hard to maintain the relationship,' a spokesperson for Michael told People magazine on Friday.  

Michael's TV career has skyrocketed of late.  The LIVE! With Kelly And Michael host took on a part-time role with Good Morning America in April, and besides that he continues to fly to Los Angeles on weekends to co-anchor Fox NFL Sunday before hopping aboard a red-eye flight back to New York in time for for his morning show gigs.

He gets up bright and early at 4:30AM to hit the gym - the first of two daily workouts - before he walks to work amidst all the other foot travelers in the Big Apple. 

While Michael was wed twice before, Nicole was famously wed to funny man Eddie for 13 years until their divorce in 2006.
