Oprah conducted her interview with Rihanna in the singer’s native Barbados. The Queen of Talk describes Rihanna as “a refreshing surprise.”
The interview airs Sunday, August 19th at 9:00 pm on OWN and tonight. Just last week, she lost a contract with Nivea amid fears her act was too racy for a mainstream marketer.
Rihanna opens up on fame, music and her controversial relationship with singer Chris Brown in an upcoming interview with Oprah Winfrey. The pop superstar gets emotional while talking about Brown, who pleaded guilty to assaulting her in 2009.
Rihanna says she lost her best friend that evening and after they split she says, “I was resentful. I held a grudge.
I was dark.” The singer also talks about dealing with the pressures that come with fame. She says in a promo for her interview with “Oprah’s Next Chapter” that she was “super-duper afraid of the pedestal” that comes with the spotlight
I thought she would have been kind of a bad-ass kind of a rocker hard-edge woman — nothing could have been farther from the truth,” Oprah said. “She was thoughtful … she was very emotional ,,, sge was vulnerable
“She pushes the edge — she pushes the edge a lot, and there’s a reason for that.”
In a clip from the exchange, the S&M singer, 24, says she’s “super-duper afraid of the pedestal that comes from fame,” and admits to going through spells of intense loneliness.
At one point, Oprah tells the brazen beauty, “You seem to have a liking to the F-word,” eliciting a laugh from the Birthday Cake singer.
