MARTIN LAWRENCE DIVORCING AFTER 15 YEARS

Awww...such sad news to report funny man Martin Lawrence will have a lot of free time on his hands to focus on his new TV show now that he and his wife are calling it quits .

“Martin and Shamicka Lawrence have decided to divorce,” a rep for the Big Momma’s House star, 47, tells PEOPLE. “The couple has made the joint decision to part ways.”

The couple had been together for 15 years before getting married in 2010 at their home in Beverly Hills.

“Out of love and respect for one another we will continue to remain friends and raise our two beautiful daughters together,” the couple said in a joint statement released to PEOPLE by his rep.

Lawrence, who also appeared in the Bad Boys films, just finished a nationwide sold-out comedy tour and shot a comedy pilot for CBS.

On Martin’s new show he plays a cop along side legendary actor John Amos who was just added to the cast of the new comedy. 

Martin plays Ty, a widowed father with two teenage kids on the show, which has yet to be named. After Ty loses his construction job at 46, he decides to become a rookie police man.

Ethan Suplee and Sydney Park also have been added to the cast. The show’s air date has not yet been announced. This show should be funny!
