the occasional BET television segment host was killed while heading to a store near his Staten Island home around 2 a.m. Sunday. Police say the 32-year-old, born Corey McGriff, was found dead with a gunshot wound to his chest. No arrests have been made.
DJ Megatron worked for hip-hop and R&B stations in New York, Boston and Philadelphia before going to work for BET's "106 & Park" music countdown show. He has hosted a spot called "What's Good" and appeared in movies including 2005's "State Property 2," starring rappers Beanie Sigel and N.O.R.E., formerly Noreaga.
He previously worked for hip-hop radio stations in Boston and Philadelphia, and most notably at New York City's HOT 97 station
Viacom Inc.-owned BET says in a statement it's saddened by his death. Also in a statement to E! News: "Mega's family is grateful for all of the condolences and warm thoughts of his fans and friends. Please continue to uplift your prayers of support as an ongoing investigation is currently being conducted by law enforcement officials."
