Elizabeth Edwards dies at age 61

Wife of disgraced former Democratic politician John Edwards and healthcare activist dies after battle with cancer.  Elizabeth Edwards, wife of disgraced Democratic politician John Edwards, has died after a public battle with cancer that had won her a legion of admirers. She was surrounded by her family, including her estranged former husband, at her home in North Carolina. She was 61 .

But, as Edwards herself would have admitted, neither cancer nor failure of her marriage was the biggest sadness in her life. The couple lost their son, Wade, in a road accident in 1996. After the tragedy they had two more children while Edwards was in her 40's.

The family said:

"Today we have lost the comfort of Elizabeth’s presence but, she remains the heart of this family," the family said in a statement. "We love her and will never know anyone more inspiring or full of life. On behalf of Elizabeth we want to express our gratitude to the thousands of kindred spirits who moved and inspired her along the way. Your support and prayers touched our entire family."

Serena Williams Bedazzles Her Cast For Foot

Serena Williams won't let an injured foot get her down -- she's decorated her cast with Swarovski crystals. The tennis great, who underwent surgery after cutting her foot on broken glass, showed off her bedazzled cast at YSL and Vogue's "Evenings in Vogue" party in Miami on Saturday night.

Serena stated"I decorated it myself with crystals. I am trying to make the best out of a bad situation. I hope to be out of the cast and back on the court by spring

The tennis superstar has been spotted at several events sporting a multi-colored, bedazzled cast. From courtside at the Miami Heat-Phoenix Suns game to crutching her way down the orange carpet at the Dolphin's Thursday night matchup with the Bears, Williams' cast is making a fashion statement in the sports' circuit.



Williams announced her withdrawal from the Australian Open on Thursday. She had surgery after cutting her foot on broken glass following her win at Wimbledon in July, and has played in just one exhibition match since the injury.

Supermodel Heidi Klum, 37, and her 47 year-old musician husband Seal have found their dream house.  In a sign the couple were really taken with the property, they paid even more than the asking price of $13.4 million.

 The pair were instantly taken with the 12,300 square-foot Mediterranean-style house in the upmarket suburb of Brentwood, which is popular with stars like Ben Affleck, Jennifer Garner and Reese Witherspoon.


The mansion is part of the highly-exclusive Brentwood Country Estates gated community in the Mandeville Canyon area and neighbours include California Governor and actor Arnold Schwarzenegger and his TV journalist wife Maria Shriver.

Heidi and Seal met when she was pregnant with Formula One tycoon Flavio Briatore's child, Leni - Briatore having already left the scene.

Victoria Secret Model Selita Ebanks New Bet Show

Here wings are blowing up,  One of Victoria Secrets fashion models has been tipped to host an entertainment/lifestyle-themed series headed to BET in early 2011.  Stunning Caribbean born Selita Ebanks revealed to Niteside recently what she has in store for the future.

“I’ll be hosting a fashion show on BET,” Ebanks said at a holiday benefit in Manhattan, where celebrities helped wrap over 2,000 toys for younger foster children.

Ebanks was hush on any further details of the show, but did share news of a book on female empowerment she is working on, which is due out next year.

“The book is real personal,” Ebanks said. “It’s little antidotes and things I’ve learned. It’s not just about modeling. It’s about being successful as a young woman.”

Ne Ne Leakes Retains Renowned Divorce Attorney

Another Reality Star marriage is coming to an end, this time loud mouth Ne Ne Leakes.  Real Housewives Of Atlanta star NeNe seems to be preparing for the formal end of her 14-year marriage from her husband Gregg.  Snitches has confirmed exclusively that she has retained renowned divorce and family law attorney Randy Kessler.


Kessler, who is based in Atlanta, had a brief cameo on the show and a source confirmed that NeNe has hired him. "The truth is that NeNe and Gregg are living totally separate lives now," another source has witness.  "She stays in the main house most of the time with her two sons and if Gregg is around NeNe lives in another apartment."

"They are both worried that Bryson is running around with a bad crowd again, and Greg feels that he needs to be monitored more after he was arrested for marijuana possession back in March." NeNe, 42,  met Leakes while she was working as an exotic dancer called Silk at an Atlanta club.



Businessman Leakes spent a fortune trying to promote her before she secured a slot on Real Housewives Of Atlanta, but now the tables have turned with NeNe earning a lot more money than her husband who has run into financial troubles. "For NeNe, the relationship has run its course, but Greg is bitter about the way things have turned-out but she is ready to move on.  

“I spent $300,000 cash on season one,” he said of the first season of “Real Housewives," as if he still can't believe he forked out that many thick stacks. “I spent $300,000 of my own money,” he said again slowly and with disgust, as if the words actually tasted bad coming out of his mouth. “I wanted to make sure that she jumped off in that show. We knew that if they made that show around her, you have got to blow up. I'm sucking everything I can into her. And she went and did her job. She blew up.”

Grammy Nominations Are In: B.O.B., Monica, Katie Perry And More (Full List)

ATL's own Monica recently engaged and Katie Perry recently married both have another reason to celebrate.  With the list of recent Grammy nominations announced, pop singer Perry name was called four times, while Mo pulled in two when the nominations were announced at “The GRAMMY Nominations Concert Live!!” from Club Nokia in downtown Los Angeles on Wednesday (Dec. 1).

Atlanta artist was completely in the house ATL B.o.B racked up five, while Cee-Lo  Green, whose viral sensation “F**k You” helped earn him four nods. Eminem tops the list of nominations for the 53rd annual Grammy Awards with 10 nods for his acclaimed and impassioned rap album "Recovery.  Find out who takes home golden gramophones when the 53rd Annual Grammy Awards air live from L.A.’s Staples Center on Sunday, Feb. 13, at 8 p.m. on CBS.

Chiseled NFL star and Dancing With the Stars alum Chad Ochocinco is the latest celebrity to bear all for Peta. “I wanted to get involved with the campaign basically because I’m an avid animal lover. You know, I have pets of my own — I’ve had them since I was a little kid. Animals always want to pick you up, no matter what,” Chad Ochocinco said.

Also earlier this week Chad confirmed rumor engagement to reality star Basketball Wives Evelyn Lozada after dating for only 4 months on Ryan Seacrest Show on Tuesday.   Ochocinco confirmed the news in an interview with American Idol host Ryan Seacrest on Tuesday.

“Yeah, man … It’s time for me to sit down. Enough is enough. I’m 32, you know, my days are over,” Ochocinco told Ryan when asked if the engagement reports were true. “You know how you deal with this person, that person, but you can’t ever find everything in one individual? I think I found everything I’ve been looking for in one person. [She's] everything I’ve been missing.”

The NFL star met Evelyn, 34, when she and a few of her reality compadres attended a star-studded bash at Ochocinco’s Miami mansion four months ago. Evelyn, a native of the Bronx, NY, dated  NBA star Antoine Walker for 10 years and share parenting of there daughter.  No word yet on wedding date.
