Ciara Concert Sales Flop...!!!
Pop singer Ciara's March 24 concert at the Mitchell Center turned out to be a financial disappointment -- and Mobile County taxpayers ended up on the hook for $50,000.
On March 12, the Mobile County Commission voted 3-0 to give $50,000 to United Cerebral Palsy of Mobile. The concert was meant as a fundraiser, but low attendance instead caused the organization to lose money.
On Thursday, County Commissioner Stephen Nodine sharply questioned the arrangement, saying no one told him at the time of the vote that the money was for a concert. "Legal counsel and the administration are here to make sure we do things in a proper manner," Nodine said.
Ross said he's looking into the situation and, at Nodine's prompting, he and Pafenbach pledged tighter procedures in the future.
