DISNEY STAR ZENDAYA COLEMAN TO STAR AS AALIYAH IN LIFETIME BIOPIC

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the Disney Channel star will play the late singer in the tentatively titled Aaliyah: Princess of R&B.

Thirteen years after Aaliyah’s death, Lifetime has announced plans for a biopic starring Zendaya Coleman.

The film is based off of Christopher Farley’s best-selling biography Aaliyah: More Than a Woman. It is being produced by Aaliyah Productions Inc., with Howard Braunstein (The Informant!) and Debra Martin Chase (The Princess Diaries) serving as executive producers. Bradley Walsh (Turn the Beat Around) will direct from a script written by Michael Elliot (Brown Sugar).

The 17-year-old actress-singer, who starred on Disney’s “Shake It Up,” will be able to draw from her musical background. She released her self-titled debut in 2013 and has appeared on “Dancing With the Stars.”

“She’s been an inspiration and influence in my whole career, her talent still shines brighter then ever, all I wanna do is honor her,” tweeted Zendaya.

“Show how much she accomplished in only 22 years….she’s beautiful inside and there will never be another Aaliyah, I just hope to share her beautiful story, and make her proud up in heaven.”

Lifetime is also developing a Whitney Houston biopic directed by Angela Bassett and starring Yaya DaCosta.

Hot Like Fire...!!! Aaliyah's Biopic Will Be the Next Tell All !!!

AWWW snap! 2009 is bringing out the dirt! Aaliyah's biopic is supposed to be shedding some serious light on the rumored beef between Dame and Hov, one source revealed.

"Both Jay and Dame was involved with a certain R&B singer, who I'm not gonna say her name out of respect 'cause she ain't around to defend herself, but I believe that was a part of the initial friction. I was seeing Jay with her back around 2000, then Dame was with her after. All you have to do is look at the movie they did, Death of a Dynasty. In the movie they were fighting over a model. In real life she was a model, but singing is what she was known for first."

I hope dude jump-offs don't start coming out the woods talking bout THEY was Aaliyah's main man. I hope they show her some respect and really show how she was such a great inspiration and a shinning star with an untimely death at the age of 22. In my Opinion Aaliyah always showed herself to be a class act so this all the behind the scenes dirt will be interesting.
