ESSENCE BLACK WOMEN IN HOLLYWOOD LUNCHEON A-LIST CELEBS HIT THE CARPET WHO WORE WHAT?

Kerry Washington nailed it at this event wearing a flattering Calvin Klein Collection azure-blue, baby-bump concealing dress which draped off one-shoulder.

Keeping accessories to a minimum, she added an Emm Kuo ‘Guggenheim’ oyster shell, black resin and stingray minaudière clutch with blue lapis details to complement her frock; plus Jimmy Choo ‘Anouk’ black pumps and EF Collection diamond X ring.

The Beautiful people!  The stars aligned on the red carpet at the Beverly Hills Hotel for the 2014 ESSENCE Black Women in Hollywood luncheon. The hottest celebs gathered to celebrate breakthrough star Lupita Nyong'o, the leadership of Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences president Cheryl Boone Isaacs, and the vision of director/producer Ava DuVernay. 

Honoree Lupita Nyong'o is stylish and rocking the crop top trend which she worked today wearing a Giambattista Valli Spring 2014 cream two-piece look styled with matching Sophia Webster shoes, an Elie Saab clutch and Neil Lane jewels.

Opting to keep her hair simple on this occasion, she did added a gold hair band for a delightfully dainty touch.

Naomie Harris She hit the white carpet in a white WES GORDON lace insert dress styled with LOUBOUTIN sandals, a JIMMY CHOO clutch and H STERN jewelry. Side parted long wavy locks and light but flawless make-up finished up her look.

Geisha girl? nope Brandy Norwood she picked this gorgeous red Elena Reva sleeveless pant look. She said it wanted something edgy, but was still classic for a luncheon, explaining that it stood out on a rack of clothes shown to her by her stylist.

Her new hair cut; which she did to celebrate turning 35 on February 11. “It makes me feel grown. 

Brandy styled her ensemble with red suede Louboutin platform pumps and a Helmel multi-coloured snakeskin clutch.

Tamera Mowry looking fresh and stunning opting for a Victoria Beckham dress featuring the clean-cut, minimalist silhouette the designer is famed for; this orange dress is beautifully crafted to smooth and hug the figure. Nude panels add a directional edge, making this elegant piece a contemporary choice for a luncheon.

Tika Sumpter Wearing her hair in chic braided updo, the actress wore a baroque printed cocktail dress from Bibhu Mohapatra’s Resort 2014 collection which featured a high, square neckline, cap sleeves, wrap-effect skirt, and a geometric cut-out at the back.

Angela Bassett She turned to her favorite designer, BYRON LARS for her white carpet look. Her sheer lace floral embroidered dress featured an exposed center front zipped and a nude belt.

Danai Gurira  illusion panel on her Reem Acra Resort 2014 fitted frock isn’t quite doing its job, I love this glorious red colour against her skin tone. Gold Rupert Sanderson sandals, an oversized Tyler Alexandra clutch and Shylee Rose jewels accessorized her look.
