GABRIELLE UNION COVERS DECEMBER ISSUE OF ESSENCE AND CHATS ABOUT REJECTION FROM SHONDRA RHIMES

Gabrielle Union Graces The December Issue Of ESSENCE Magazine, Shares Lesson She Learned From Shonda Rhimes

As Gabrielle Union gears up for season two of BET’s original series, “Being Mary Jane,” the muti-talented actress graced ESSENCE’s December issue cover story aptly titled, “Being Gabrielle.”

For Union’s latest ESSENCE spread, the 41-year-old opened up on an array of topics including the lessons she’s learned from being rejected and how Shonda Rhimes empowered her during her audition for “Scandal.”
“Going in for Scandal, Shonda [Rhimes] empowered every Black woman who came through her door,” she admitted. “Even if I don’t get the next job, or the next five jobs, I don’t want to be treated less than how Shonda treated me.”
“I was one of the last five or ten to audition…when Kerry got it, I congratulated her. Now after each episode, I’m leading the charge, like Gladiators, stand up! I’m obsessed with the show…”
The December 2013 issue of ESSENCE magazine hits newsstands on Nov. 8.

In other Union news Wade gave her a ring for her B'day "Dwyane came to her party with his gift," a source told Page Six. "Dwyane hand her a small gift-wrapped box," the source continued. "She opened it and Dwyane put the ring on her finger," said the source.
The ring is Dwyane's championship ring. Apparently, Dywane Wade and the rest of the Miami Heat team received their championship rings earlier the night of Gabrielle's birthday bash. He decided to probably come over to her girlfriend's party so that she can have a look at the fat ring.
"Thank you to the man that forgets to put the cap back on to the toothpaste, who flushes the non-flushable wipes, but always goes all out for my birthday," Union wrote on Dwyane's Instagram.
"We are not rushing to get married," Wade told Essence.com. "Gabby and I have been married before, we have to understand that if we want to marry again, we have to do it right," said Wade.  We both failed in marriage once, so we want to make sure that the next one will definitely last forever," Wade concluded.
