"I would like to thank my Aunt Rena as well as the doctors and nurses who are working with us around the clock. I would especially like to thank the two men who saved my son's life, Eugene Stachurski and Ben Crews," the singer said in a statement. "They are true heroes and I am deeply grateful to them."On Monday, his eldest son Usher Raymond V was retrieving a toy from a pool drain when his arm got stuck.
When a maid and supervising adult were unable to free him, two male employees working inside the house jumped into the pool and got him loose. He was then given CPR before being taken to the hospital.
"I am blessed and fortunate to say that my son Usher V is doing well and is recovering," the statement read. "I am overwhelmed by the outpouring of prayers, love and support for my family's well-being,"Usher Raymond V is the singer's eldest son with his ex Tameka Foster (their youngest son Naviyd Ely is 4). On Tuesday, Foster reportedly requested an emergency hearing to regain primary custody of the two children.
"Now that it's sunk in, she is livid," a source close to Foster told PEOPLE. "Usher has custody and won't let Tameka have the kids, even when he's out of town. She feels like the kids are being raised by his family or by nannies, when they should be with their mother."
On Wednesday, Foster revealed via Twitter that Usher V was "talking and asking for food."
"He's going to be just fine," the source continues. "The doctors are taking every precaution to make sure he's okay, because they're worried about dry drowning. But the danger looks like it has passed."
