Three people, including students, have been injured in a shooting at historically Black Hampton University, says Yuri Rodgers Milligan, a spokeswoman for the school. The university is currently under lockdown as police investigate the shooting.
Police have not revealed a motive yet but the victims of the shooting are in a nearby hospital undergoing treatment. The shooter is also among the injured. There has been no report yet on the condition of the victims.
According to campus police, the call reporting the shooting, which took place outside of Harkness Hall, a men's dorm at the school, came in about 1 a.m. this morning.
Students and faculty have been notified via e-mail. Earlier this morning, the University also sent out a text message that read, "There has been a shooting at Harkness Hall. The suspect has been apprehended and the campus is safe."
