Update: Bernie Mac's rep stated he is responding well to treatment and should be released from a Chicago Hospital soon. He is expected to have a full recovery.
Our prayers go out to his family. Bernie Mac has been hospitalized with Pneumonia at a hospital in Chicago, but is expected to be released soon, his publicist confirmed on Friday. Although some reports are saying he is in critical condition and people are saying the reps are down playing it.
"Mr. Mac is responding well to treatment and will be released soon," the actor's rep Danica Smith said in a statement
The 50-year-old comedian suffered from sarcoidosis, a tissue inflammation, but his rep said his illness has been in remission since 2005 and that the Pneumonia has nothing to do with it.
"He asked that his privacy and that of his family is respected while he gets well," she said
