"How To Get Away With Murder" star Viola Davis accepted the PCA for Favorite Actress In A New TV Series. The 49-year-old indeed deserved the win, and her acceptance speech demanded two snaps.
While referencing that shady comment from a NY Times writer several months ago about her being "less than classically beautiful", she said:
Davis gave a shout out to the fans, and then took a pointed dig at the story while she thanked the executive producers of her series: “Thank you Shonda Rhimes, Betsy Beers and Peter Nowalk,” Davis said to much applause, “For thinking of a leading lady who looks like my classic beauty.”
It was a big night for the cast of Shonda Rhimes’ Grey’s Anatomy, who took home the People’s Choice Award for Favorite TV drama. The show’s cast and crew were more than humbled for the love and support.
