In honor of the magazine’s 150th anniversary, a blonde RiRi covers the March issue, with a seductive, over the shoulder glare. Inside the mag, she goes classic in a Tod’s coat, Emporio Armani boots, and Jaeger-LeCoultre watch, a nod to a vintage pic of the legendary female pilot.
“There’s something so special about a woman who dominates in a man’s world,” says Rihanna. “It takes a certain grace, strength, intelligence, fearlessness, and the nerve to never take no for an answer. Amelia Earhart was such a dynamic force in her industry, setting multiple aviation records in her time. So it was a no-brainer for me to team up with Harper’s Bazaar in honor of a woman who held her own with the big boys.”
In the extensive photo spread, RiRi pulls off phenomenal looks that reference Earhart’s accolades. Standing outside of a vintage aircraft, Bad Gal sports a Hermès jacket, pants, belt, and shoes combo, to go with Chopard earrings, Dior necklace, and rings.
In another photo, she dazzles in a Salvatore Ferragamo jacket and skirt, Gaspar gloves, Stella McCartney shoes, and Jacob & Co. ankle bracelet. Another shot finds her elegantly posing in Bottega Veneta and Ralph Lauren as mechanics work on a plane behind her.
One of the most eye-catching shots is one that blends Earhart with Marilyn Monroe, as Rihanna poses atop a mid-flight plane, with her Dior Haute Couture dress waving in the wind as a pilot looks up in awe.
Next month, RiRi will continue her fashion takeover when her third Fenty x Puma collection debuts in Paris.
The March issue of Harper’s Bazaar’s hits newsstands Feb. 21.
