The 40-year-old “How To Get Away With Murder” star is an inspiration to 100% black women and girls everywhere.
Every year the Screen Actor’s Guild celebrates outstanding achievements in film, radio and television (mostly television).
Ms. Davis, who won a SAG Award for Best Actress in a television drama, had this to say about the controversy surrounding the #OscarsSoWhite protests in the green room:
“We have become a society of trending topics. Diversity is not a trending topic. It’s just not. I’ve always considered myself an actor since I got my equity card in 1988. I’ve never put any limitations on myself. I felt like I can play Chekhov — any character in Chekhov — in Shakespeare, in Miller, in August Wilson.”Obviously moved to tears by Davis’s speech, Tyrese posted this lengthy tribute to her on his Instagram account.
Davis and her husband, actor Julius Tennon, 62, adopted a biracial girl as a newborn in 2011.
