In Japan, Derrick gave a basketball skills clinic to over 100 fans in Sendai and the following day he participated in a basketball event at Roppongi Hills Oyane Plaza where a crowd of more than 8,000 watched Rose play against a series of 100 Japanese defenders including fans, Japanese professional basketball players and sumo wrestlers.
Rose then visited Beijing, China where hundreds of fans gathered at the adidas Store to watch 50 lucky fans participate in “Jump with D Rose,” where they had the opportunity to win a pair of D Rose 773 II shoes by jumping to retrieve them off a high shelf. On his second day in Beijing, Rose participated in basketball contests and table tennis matches with media and fans.Inspired by the exciting and attacking on-court play and smooth, understated off-court style of Derrick Rose, fans attending the tours will have the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to meet and have unique access to Derrick through a multitude of premium, exclusive events including basketball demonstrations and games, contests, in-store appearances, social media and more.
The tour continues through September 16 with additional stops throughout China, Hong Kong and Manila. The tour will culminate with an event in Chicago, where Derrick will connect with fans in his hometown before beginning the NBA season.
