PRIME TIME EMMY NOMINATIONS ARE IN SCANDAL KERRY WASHINGTON ALSO DON CHEADLE, ALFRE WOODWARD ARE NOMINATED

The Winners are? Award season is in full swing and the 2013 Primetime Emmy nominations are in! Announced this morning, July 18th, in Los Angeles, three of your favorites have gained their spot on the bill.

Kerry Washington is nominated for Lead Actress In A Drama Series, as Olivia Pope in the ABC’s, Scandal. Don Cheadle is nominated for Lead Actor In A Comedy Series as Marty Kaan in Showtime’s House of Lies. Alfre Woodard is nominated for Supporting Actress In A Miniseries Or A Movie as Ouiser in Lifetime’s Steel Magnolias.

Kerry has been making major moves in media lately, and this current nomination adds to the list. She is the first Black actress since Cicely Tyson (in the 1994-95 season) to be nominated in the Lead Actress in A Drama Series category. Ms. Tyson was nominated for her work in the NBC legal drama, Sweet Justice.
If Kerry wins, she will be the first Black actress to accomplish this feat in this category in the sixty-five years of the telecast.
The 65th Annual Primetime Emmys will be held Sunday, September 22, at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles, airing on CBS. Will you be watching?
