One of the shortest fake weddings in the history of celebs has come to an unexpected earlier end. EV & Chad lasted a whole 41 days ...we don't think the ink dried on the marriage certificate.
And trust we don't condone domestic violence, but we do find it interesting that now fighting isn't cool per Evelyn. But when she was jumping across the table like a monkey on her reality show BBQ wives that was OK right? She knew she was marrying a HO from day one and of course that doesn't give him the right to act like he's in the WWE by head butting his wife. But you can't turn a Ho into a husband either.
In light of allegations of both domestic assault and a pre-marital affair, Basketball Wives star Evelyn Lozada has taken a strong stance against her estranged husband Chad "Ochocinco" Johnson by filing for divorce after less than six weeks of marriage.
"Given recent events in my client’s life, she has decided to file for divorce and move forward with her life," her attorney, after the legal papers were filed at the Broward County Courthouse in Florida on Tuesday afternoon.
The move to end the marriage after just 40 days comes during a tumultuous week that began with the NFL star's arrest on Saturday night for allegedly physically attacking Lozada
As Houseofglitz previously reported, last weekend's altercation between the newlyweds, who tied the knot on July 4, started when the couple was driving home from dinner and Evelyn found a receipt for condoms in the car. The argument turned physical, Lozada told cops, and her husband head-butted her.
Seemingly desperate to do damage control on his public image before heading into the divorce court, Head butt Johnson released a statement on Tuesday:
"I would like to apologize to everyone for the recent events that have occurred. I would like to wish Evelyn well and will never say anything bad about her because I truly love her to death," wrote the 34-year-old football player.
"I will continue to be positive and train hard for another opportunity in the NFL. To all the fans and supporters I have disappointed, you have my sincerest apologies. I will stay positive and get through this tough period in my life."
Earlier on Tuesday, Lozada took the high road by releasing a statement describing her sadness over the domestic violence incident. “I am deeply disappointed that Chad has failed to take responsibility for his actions and made false accusations against me, it is my sincere hope that he seeks the help he needs to overcome his troubles," wrote the Basketball Wives star.
"Domestic violence is not OK and hopefully my taking a stand will help encourage other women to break their silence as well. I’m grateful to my family, friends and fans for the outpouring of support during this difficult time.”After being picked up by the Miami Dolphins earlier this year when the Patriots cut him, the wide receiver's contract was terminated by the team within 24 hours of the domestic abuse scandal, and not only is he off the team, publicity-hungry Johnson, 34, is also off the air because VH1 canceled the reality show Ev & Ocho about him and Lozada's Caribbean wedding that was set to air in September.
