Another, day, another reality show with an all African woman cast, but this time with a little twist . With criticism and cries for petitions against “Love & Hip Hop Atlanta” running rampant, a black network is hoping their positive programming will draw viewers away from trashy television and attract them to their family friendly TV show.
Faith Evans, Nicci Gilbert, Syleena Johnson, Monifah and Keke Wyatt will star as the “R&B Divas” this fall on TV One and are promising no fighting, drink-throwing or bickering. Instead, “R&B Divas” will strive to keep viewers entertained by telling the stories of the women as they work on their careers and deal with family life.
The series is eight episodes long and will show the divas not only working on their individual singing careers but working as a quintet on a Whitney Houston charity album. ” ‘R&B Divas’ was created to help instigate balance. We are mothers, wives [and] positive women first,” says Nicci Gilbert about the show.” ‘R&B Divas’ will prove beyond a reasonable doubt that we can captivate an audience without hurting them.”“R&B Divas” premieres Aug. 20 on TV One following an episode of “Unsung.” Not sure if we are feeling this or not? But as usual you got us for one episode.
