They issued the following joint statement on Thursday: "It has always been our preference not to comment on the status of our relationship, but, out of respect for the time we've spent together, we feel compelled to do so now, in light of recent speculation and the number of inaccurate stories that are being reported by the media. We have, in fact, ended our romantic relationship and have done so mutually and as friends, with continued love and respect for one another." Diaz, 34, and Timberlake, 25, began dating in 2003 after meeting at the Nickelodeon Kids Choice Awards. They called it quits just before the new year, with one source pinpointing the pair's split to have taken place between their lovey-dovey December 16 night on the set of Saturday Night Live and Timberlake's Christmas Day trip to visit Diaz in Vail, Colorado. However, you can see the former couple together again (in cartoon form anyway) when they costar in the upcoming animated sequel, Shrek the Third.
