MACHETE RAP FOR BUSTA...MIGHT BE DOING 6 MONTHS IN JAIL

Accoring to the NY post, December 12, 2006 -- Rapper Busta Rhymes, already charged with kicking and punching a fan who accidentally spat on his car, was slapped with another charge yesterday - for the machete cops say they found in the vehicle when they arrested him. Rhymes, 34, whose real name is Trevor Smith, has refused Manhattan prosecutors' plea offer of six months in jail on charges of misdemeanor assault for the mid-August incident at West 19th Street and Sixth Avenue. The misdemeanor weapons charge is for the machete cops say they found in the seat pocket of the SUV when they busted the rapper for the alleged beating. Defense lawyer Robert Kalina is trying to fight what he sees as the "selective prosecution" of a hip-hop celebrity. Prosecutors counter that six months would be fair, given Rhymes' status as a violent predicate felon. ding to the NY post,
